- If sown early enough it will fix nitrogen throughout the summer
- For a legume especially it is winter hardy so a valuable option to be sown after harvest to provide winter cover.
- Fast establishment and good ground cover mean it will smoother weeds.
- Slightly larger seed than the equivalent clovers so should be sown 1-2cm
