Main Crop Turnips although slower growing than stubble turnips have a higher yield potential and greater winter hardiness. They can be sown later than swedes and are a useful component to be mixed with kale, rape, or stubble turnips to extend grazing days. They should be sown in May or June and either drilled or broadcast into a fine firm seedbed.
A traditional yellow fleshed maincrop turnip that was bred in Scotland. It will produce high yields from large roots. It is an extremely hardy turnip with good anchorage and energy levels. It is suitable to be grazed by sheep and cattle.
