About

High fresh and dry yields make this variety ideal for finishing lambs post Christmas.

Lomond has both powdery mildew and clubroot resistance and trials show it suffers less from rots and splits in its root.

All Swedes are supplied as Grade H and may be treated. Please contact us should you have any other requirements

Impressed how well the swedes had grown

Lomond swedes have always performed well for us here at Newmore both in the field and in the farmhouse. Having around 130 Cheviot Mule ewe lambs and, into the latter part of winter, in lamb Blackface gimmers to overwinter, the swedes need to cope well with the wintery conditions and produce a good heavy crop to keep the sheep well fed and entertained. This photo was taken on the 25th August and I was especially impressed how well the swedes had grown after being sown on the 29th May on the flat. Given the later than usual sowing date, the crop still managed to produce an average of 18 tonnes of DM/ha when measured in early November. I look to utilise the swedes in the early part of January.
