An annual wildflower that is semi parasitic. Often included in wildflower mixtures to reduce competition with grass species. Yellow flowered with mature seeds encased in a pod that can "rattle"

Best sown in autumn as dormancy can be difficult to break. Normally a self seeding population will eventually establish.

As its an annual it will die away each season leaving gaps for new wildflowers to develop.
