MacEwen Family

Isle of Muck Visit

Johnny had the good fortune to visit the Isle of Muck and the MacEwen family last Sunday, thanks to a lift in his friend Alistair (Tich) MacLachlan’s boat from Ardnamurchan.

The MacEwen’s have owned the island since 1896. ¬†It is a very fertile island of some 1500 acres and farmed exceedingly well by the family. ¬†Lawrence has had a lifetime working with the elements rather than against them. His son, Colin, is following the family tradition and kindly showed Johnny over the sheep and cattle enterprises.

Harbro have a long standing relationship with the MacEwen family and supply the Castle mixtures when reseeding take place.

A Drop In The Ocean

“I would heartily recommend Polly Pullar’s book ‘A drop in the ocean’ which tells the tale of Lawrence MacEwen’s life on the Isle of Muck” Johnny
